We have a special interest in adult ADHD and am certified by the UK Adult ADHD Network (UKAAN) in the treatment and management of ADHD. Our practice adheres to internationally respected frameworks developed by experts such as Dr. Russell Barkley. Our diagnostic process involves detailed history-taking and a nuanced understanding of each patient's lived experience.

Treatment is collaborative, tailored to individual needs, and designed to empower individuals to gain greater emotional insight, recognize unconscious patterns, and take ownership of their strengths, challenges, and choices.
Assessment process
My assessment process is designed to provide a clear and comprehensive understanding of your mental health, respecting your individuality and recognizing the complexity of your experiences.

I start with a detailed clinical interview, where we explore your current difficulties, emotional landscape, developmental history, life circumstances, and behavior patterns. This is not a checklist approach; rather, it is a conversation aimed at understanding how your mind works, what challenges you face, and what strengths you possess.
When assessing for ADHD or other neurodevelopmental conditions, I adhere to the most up-to-date international guidelines, including those developed by leading experts like Dr. Russell Barkley. I am certified by the UK Adult ADHD Network (UKAAN) in the diagnosis and management of adult ADHD and use a structured, evidence-based framework supported by validated tools and questionnaires where appropriate.
Importantly, We look beyond just symptoms. Our goal is not only to identify diagnoses but also to help you gain a deeper understanding of your inner world, including any unconscious emotional conflicts that may influence your experiences. We also explore how these dynamics impact your relationships, self-image, and daily functioning.

At the end of the assessment, we discuss the findings together and determine the best way forward, whether through ongoing therapy, medication, further evaluation, or a combination of approaches tailored to your needs.

Your care at Bene Fida

Your First Appointment
& Follow-Up Care

At Bene Fida, we provide comprehensive, individualised psychiatric assessments and ongoing care. We consider your mental health, personal history and individual circumstances to develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

01

Assessment

We explore your concerns, symptoms, developmental history, relationships and day-to-day functioning. Depending on your needs, this may include an ADHD assessment, a general mental health assessment and exploration of personality-related difficulties.

02

Clinical picture

Where relevant, we consider ADHD, co-occurring conditions and other factors that can affect similar symptoms.

03

Plan & next steps

We discuss the findings, agree an individual plan and normally provide a written report within two weeks. If medication is prescribed, it is sent to your nominated pharmacy and/or GP, as appropriate.

Our ADHD assessment approach

Our ADHD assessments are informed by internationally recognised diagnostic criteria, structured clinical interviews and evidence-based guidance.

  • DSM-5: diagnostic criteria used to evaluate ADHD symptoms and their impact on everyday functioning.
  • DIVA-5: a structured clinical interview exploring ADHD symptoms in childhood and adulthood.
  • CADDRA: clinical guidelines supporting comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • ICD-11: an internationally recognised diagnostic classification framework.
  • DIPP-11: a structured approach to assessing personality functioning and related difficulties, where clinically indicated.

We also consider other psychiatric conditions that may occur alongside ADHD or contribute to similar symptoms, helping us develop a comprehensive understanding of your mental health.

Childhood history & family involvement

As ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition, understanding symptoms and their impact from childhood through to adulthood is an important part of the diagnostic process.

Where possible, we encourage you to involve a family member or another person who has known you since childhood and can provide information about your early development, behaviour and everyday functioning. With your agreement, they may be invited to contribute to the assessment.

If a suitable person cannot attend, additional questionnaires or structured forms may be provided. If no informant is available, this does not automatically prevent an assessment from proceeding. Where appropriate, we may consider school reports, previous medical records and your own developmental history.

Our aim is to make the process thorough, evidence-based and accessible while maintaining appropriate diagnostic standards.

Broader psychiatric assessment

Dr Matko Pavlovic has undertaken training with the UK Adult ADHD Network (UKAAN). We consider ADHD and other mental health concerns in the wider context of your psychological wellbeing, developmental experiences, personality functioning and personal circumstances.

Personality assessment, where clinically appropriate, can provide insight into longstanding patterns of emotional experience, interpersonal relationships and coping strategies. This helps us build a more complete clinical picture, consider possible co-occurring conditions and recommend appropriate treatment.

Dr Matko Pavlovic is also recommended on the ADHD Ireland website. His clinical approach emphasises comprehensive psychiatric assessment, careful consideration of co-occurring mental health conditions and individualised treatment planning.

Treatment approach

Treatment is tailored to your needs, clinical presentation and preferences. Depending on the assessment findings, it may include ADHD medication management, psychiatric medication initiation and titration, psychoeducation and ongoing psychiatric review.

Where appropriate, a psychodynamic approach may support a trusting therapeutic relationship and encourage greater understanding of emotional experiences, relationships, personal strengths and recurring difficulties.

We work collaboratively towards improved self-understanding, helpful behavioural changes and better overall mental and physical wellbeing. We may also discuss other psychotherapeutic approaches and, where appropriate, recommend or refer you to independent psychologists or psychotherapists for additional support.

GP referral & shared care

We ask you to obtain a referral from your GP before attending the clinic. This helps establish communication between Bene Fida and your GP from the beginning of your care.

If a diagnosis is established and treatment is recommended, we can liaise with your GP regarding the assessment findings, treatment recommendations and ongoing management.

Where appropriate, shared-care arrangements may be considered. They depend on clinical suitability, the responsibilities of the clinicians involved and your GP's agreement. Shared care is not automatic and cannot be guaranteed.

Medication & follow-up care

When medication forms part of your treatment plan, follow-up appointments help monitor your response, review potential side effects and support safe prescribing. Appointment frequency is individualised to your clinical needs, medication and treatment response.

Appointments last up to 30 minutes. In-person follow-ups are available with Dr Matko Pavlovic; online follow-ups are available with Dr Petrut. The fee is €200.

Additional reviews may be needed during medication titration or if your symptoms, treatment response or clinical circumstances change.

Prescription fees & letters

Prescriptions issued during a scheduled assessment or follow-up appointment are included in the appointment fee.

A fee of €30 per prescription applies when a prescription is requested and issued outside a scheduled appointment. This may include renewals or prescriptions issued following email correspondence about medication titration. The fee reflects the clinical and administrative work involved, including responsibilities associated with controlled medications.

All prescriptions remain subject to clinical review and appropriate prescribing requirements. Letters for accommodation or disability purposes are €30.

Health insurance & reimbursement

Bene Fida is registered with VHI and Laya. Whether an appointment is eligible for reimbursement, and the amount available, depends on your insurer and individual policy. Please check your cover directly with your insurer before booking. Reimbursement cannot be guaranteed.

Patients pay Bene Fida directly for their appointment. If your policy provides eligible cover, ask your insurer how to submit your receipt and what supporting documents they require.

Before booking, you may wish to ask your insurer whether your plan covers the relevant psychiatric assessment or follow-up, whether pre-approval or a GP referral is needed, and what benefit limits or documentation requirements apply.
